This week, we are to present our finding on the practitioner and photographer. The photographer assigned to our group is Anthony Goicolea. Here is some of our findings.

Practice

- He serves as his own model, playing multiple characters who all appear in the same photograph

- Uses digital manipulation to reflect his aesthetic and conceptual vision

- Artworks portray him in the form of his inner children:

Eg: as id, ego, and superego all herded into a single space and instructed to play nicely.

- Want his work to have an emotional impact

- Open-ended, ambiguous aspect to his work

Exploration

- Concepts of youth, homo-eroticism, and identity

- Themes of environmental destruction and displacement

- Thing he find uncomfortable in real life

Eg: chaos and disorder and things being really cluttered and falling apart and this idea of loss or transition and things being dislocated

Here is our case study on his artworks.

The similarities some of the artist discussed in class today is that they have a consistent principles/ story that they wanted to tell. Therefore, I learn that it is important that the message we want to convey is consistent throughout the photo-novel.

Besides, through their artworks I learned many ways to tell my story in not the normal ways. For example, we could use the settings or environment to depict what we want to tell, it does not necessarily means going outside for the photo-shoot. As long as the setting is able to tell the message I wanted to say.
