Based on what I have gathered from last week's interview session, I started analyzing the answers received on the scope of Asian children to be the perfect child such as getting perfect grades, not disobeying parent choices of career, & excel in other activities. Based on the answers given by Clarissa it seems that the pressure Asian children faced have to do with the culture of their brought up and belief. As she mentioned that " I do not want to embarrass them in front of other parents" Therefore, since young, she took grades seriously as "I'm from a Chinese school, the competition was kinda fierce."
Thus, from the interview, I get a glimpse of her life and her motivation behind the model students that she is. I understand the reason she worked so hard to get good grades is to make her parents proud and that got to do with the culture of “bringing honor to the family” which is a common Chinese culture. This topic/ culture was brought up in the Disney movie Mulan. However it targets something a little different as in the past female don’t study so the only way to bring honor is to married like a good family, but Mulan brings honor to her family when goes to war on behalf of her dad.

The concept I am going for her story is on how her Chinese family belief is passed down to her which mold her into who she is today. Therefore, I wanted to use many Chinese philosophy/ proverbs to described her experience/ culture. As a Chinese myself, my parents always used to teach me through Chinese proverbs as it holds much meaningful meaning behind those words. While the layout, similar to the writing it would also be heavily influenced by Chinese philosophy or elements in the layout and writing to reflect her family and her values, traditions, and culture.
Some of the inspiration & practitioner I look into for my work is:
Tun Ho
He is a graphic designer based in Macau, and most of his work features Chinese typography. Therefore, I look at how he used Chinese proverbs and reflect them on the layout and typography.

Example: In this typographic poster it features the saying "年年有余” which is a Chinese new year greeting to wish someone "Have abundance every year". However, the pronunciation of 余 sounds a lot like 鱼 which means fish. Therefore, the visuals of the poster feature fishes, gold coin, etc which matches the typography.
2. Kenya Hara
While for my layout, I refer to a lot of Kenya Hara worked as most of his work features a simple yet very eastern (Japanese) look which is what I am going for my layout. I really like how his text is aligned neatly and pleasing to the eyes.
