Dark Tones & Light Tones
This narrative technique is inspired by the movie Black Swan, where they used black and white to help differentiate between the character alter-ego and herself. Since the colour of the photonovel is red, I try to change the lighting to help with it.
2. Selective colour photography
I use this method of photography to help me highlight important scenes/ object in my photonovel that represent desire. This is inspired by the movie Perfect Blue where they used the colour red as a representative of chaos and how they play around with the colour to tell the story.
3. Centre-shots (Reflection)
As reflection is a symbolism of the protagonist accepting her trueself. Her reflection on the mirror would b slowly move towards the centre of the frame and be clearer in the photo as she start to accept her imperfections & flaws. This is inspired by how cinematographer used camera angles to help showcase the character development
4. Props
After doing my research on various film, I realised that they put consideration into many aspect even though it is not obvious to the audience. Therefore I created my own packaging that would help further reflect on the concept.

I decided that I would create 2 packaging with similar design but copywriting to reflect on the reality and the nightmare/ vision.
Combining the props & editing to help me with storytelling
Peeling away the initial packaging in the colour redish pink to reveal the truth behind the product. Therefore, the protagonist is peeling the red (her desire) of wanting to look pretty and understand the truth behind it.
