This week we visited FabU cafe which is located at ss18 to have our laser cut workshop. We learned the basic operation of the machine through the short briefing/ introduction. In the introduction, we are exposed to the several services FabU cafe offer.
In this workshop, each of us are allow to try laser cuting out own design! I have prepared one of my design beforehand. However, before sending it to the laser cuting machine we have to touch up the files. All the lines have to be connected for the machine to detect it.
We were also exposed to different materials we could laser cut on, such as the different types of wood or the different types of arcylic!! Besides, I learned that we could adjust the power of engraving (the stronger the laser, the deeper it engrave).
For my design, I decided to laser cut on arcylic! So here is my design in Ai. I have seperated the colours to blue and red. Red means to cut, while blue means to engrave. Therefore, is easier for the people to understand what I wanted.
Some of the other services that they provide is 3D printing machine and Embroidery machine.
In this workshop, we were exposed to several methods that we could try for our project!
3D Max workshop
On Thursday, we have another workshop on 3D design. The workshop was taught by a guest lecturer, from him we learned the basics of the software such as the different tools and functions. From what we learned we are to create a 3D structure and this is what I have created. (is not the best by i tried lol)
