Practitioner: Wes Anderson
The practitioner that I look at is Wes Anderson, because in all his movies they share very similar camera angles & shots which is the object is always in the centre of the frame (symmetrical). His way of filming spoon-feeds information to its audience. He wants the audience to feels what he wants them to feel and sees what he wants them to see.(Lannom, 2019) Therefore, I learned that we can control the camera angles to help control the information we want to put out for the audience to understand.
The Joker (2019)
The movie that I once again look at is “The Joker” (2019) by Lawrence Sher. One of the methods they used to showcase the “Joker” character development is through framing. In the start of the film, we can see that Joker is always in very constricted locations. As the film progresses, he is seen in very open and less constricted location. Therefore, I learned that cinematography could be a way to showcase the protagonist character development or arc.

Parasite (2019)
The film that I did case study on is “Parasite” (2019) by Bong Joon-ho. Throughout the film there are 2 consistent symbol which is the stone & the smell. The stone is a representation of the protagonist desire to climb the ladder of success, while the smell is a representation of their low social class. Therefore, throughout the film the symbol is present to act as a reminder of where they stand and what they want to achieve. (Lessons from the screenplay, 2020) From this, I learned that it is crucial to have a consistent symbol to help me convey my message across.
Black Swan (2010)
Another film that I look at is once again “Black Swan” (2010) by Matthew Libatique. In the film one of the consistent symbols is the use of mirror. Since mirrors are a crucial part of ballet, they used it as a representative of the notion of identity and double. Throughout the movie, the protagonist can only see her transformation as a swan through the mirror.(Lambert, n.d.) From this, I learned that the symbol could be also a way of helping the audience understand what the protagonist is going through.
