Before I die is an art project that started out in New Orleans, Louisiana, and have spread across the world ever since. It's creator Candy Chang started this project when she lost someone she loved and that changes her perspective in life. Combining her efforts of wanting to make her neighborhood to share more, she converted the side of an abandon house into a chalk board with the sentence "Before I die, I want to......". The project encourages anyone who encounter the wall to reflect on their life and remember what really matters to them as they grow and change. (Before I Die, 2020)
This project is about connecting and knowing you're not alone and understanding the people around us in a new enlightening way. It has utilized a public spaces to provide everyone an opportunity to voice out. This piece of experimental and discursive design proof that communicating an idea or concept could be done in many ways.

Her encouragement for us to voice out have spread across several countries including Malaysia!! In 2013, the mass communication students of INTI Nilai were inspired by what Candy Chang said and decided to create their own in the campus hoping lecturers and students to reflect on their purposed. The main website features all the responses given on the wall and have been categorized into different categories such as work, love and etc... (Responses, 2020). While the responses across the globe vary, there are similar underlying themes such as love, hope, faith, family, and happiness. I felt touched and moved by reading all the messages.

This project is very meaningful and definitely makes me learn and understanding how everyone have a dream they want to fulfill or something they regret doing, and deep down we are all human beings.
