🌸Week 7 (DES1204)

This week is our book binding workshop. We brought all the items needed such as Candle wax, cardboard, A4 paper, needle, thread and many more. The first type of book binding that we are taught is the accordion book binding.This is a type of book binding that the pages of the book is made by folding the papers. ( TIPS!! we have to leave an extra of 1.5cm less or more so that the page could be join together)

The second type of book binding we learned is the Japanese bookbinding. This type of book binding is commonly used in Asia country. I have always seen this type of bookbinding in drama or movies, so I am really excited to try this type of book binding. First, we cut the A4 paper in half and fold it. Later we make 4 holes on the side of the paper. I bind my book on the edge of the paper because I like the texture of the book since the paper is thicker this way. The book is bind with the thread, so we wax the the thread and put it through the hole by using a needle.

This workshop is very useful for my portfolio since by doing this activity we learn how to take precaution for our portfolio. For example, we need to leave extra spaces for the binding. Besides, since my portfolio is in the accordion style, I learn how to improve my portfolio and many more.

As for our grad mag, since we have already decided to do The Last Song. They have started to give out the task to other groups. We have been assigned to take photos of each person for the grad mag. My group and I have decided to take the photos using my camera in next week class.
