🌸Typography (WEEK 14)

Writer's picture: TengTeng

For my typography, I have decided to make it based on a popular dish in the Klang Town called Bak Kut Teh. This dish is a really common dish that could be find around town, so when I did my research on lifestyle of people I feel like I could capture the lifestyle of people around that area by using food.

I choose the word PaSangLang for my final typography piece because I feel like it captures how Klang people conversed. PaSangLang actually means Klang people in the hokkien dialect. Majority of people in Klang is hokkien, so when you read this sentence is just reminds me of people talking in Klang.

I did a few methods to create my typography. The first way, is to create it using AI, but I feel like it cant capture how the Bak Kut Teh feels like, so I try doing photography.

It didnt work out like how I wanted so I tried using watercolours.

I wanted the typography to kinda resembles the Bak Kut Teh table. So, I took my time to observed the table and the little bits of experience one's could encounter in the restaurant or table.

After using watercolour to colour my work, I scan it to my computer to arranged and make some adjustment.

This is my final outcome!!

my 10 words typography!!

I feel like my typography have to be look as a whole since each words have to go together for the people to know that is Bak Kut Teh because Bak Kut Teh is not only about the pot, but also about the little things around it to wrap it up together to give the customer the experience of eating Bak Kut Teh.
