This week, we are gonna learn about stop motion.Stop motion is a technique whereby the camera is repeatedly stopped and started, so that it creates an impression of movement. There are a few things we needed to get before the workshop. Tripod, clay, a camera or phone.
We started by learning some of the animations techniques:
1. Exaggeration
This technique of animation is to make an animation look more interesting because normal motions in reality could look dull and boring.
2. Anticipation
This technique is used in animation to prepare the audience for the main action.
3. Squash and stretch
This technique is maily use to give a feeling of fleshiness, flexibility, and life in animation, so that the movement is not so rigid.
4. Slow in and slow out
This technique is usually use when an object needs time to accelerate and slow down as it moves. It usually make the animation more realistic.
5. Arc
This technique is usually used for the characters movement because it will make the animation more realistic.
This is a few of the principle we learned in this week class that would contribute in helping our claymation workshop. Claymation workshop is using clay to create a stop motion animation.
We started by trying out the principle slow in and slow out using clay that is shaped to a ball.
The squash and stretch
and more...!!
Behind the scenes :
Besides, this week I have my first tutorial with Ms Sue Jane. I have told her my idea of doing something related to bread with human life. I end up with the idea of asking people about random stories that they have experience in life that is related to bread. One of the stories I end up choosing is my mom childhood stories about the rotiman. A rotiman is someone that sends bread using a bike or motorcycle that is quite common in Malaysia. I feel like the story could show how simple things in life could brings joy towards certain person. The next step is to find a recording and draw the storyboard. I am planning on asking my mom to help me with the recording, so it will kinda be something like storytelling!!
