This week, I am just gonna continue with what I have been doing since last week which is the illustrations. However, I have started to do the layout for my artworks.
Ms Sue Jane, help me with the font and description. She said that the description have to explain about how each artwork are link to the manifesto/poem.
In this poem, is actually talking about the scent of the osmanthus. Since, one of the characteristic of osmanthus is the strong fragrance.
1st poem
The story of the poem is about how a girl smell a strong unknown scent, she wanted to follow it since she is curious as to where it's from, but she is scared since she does not know where the scent would lead her.
The poem is actually about me and how I initially started design. When I was in high school, I never once thought I would take design as my major in college, but until one day my friends and I visited the educational fair and I took home some leaflet that was given out. I am curious as to what is inside, and when I saw the works and projects the students did I relaized that I wanted to study design.
(So, in my illustrations you can see there is an arrow saying future pointing towards the buildings. The buildings is actually lab equipment to symbolize how I always wanted to take Science as my major in the future. The question marks actually spell out design and it lead to another path.)
The manifesto for this is curiosity and I link it towards my visual book about stray dogs since my initial inspiration for the book is started from my curiosity as to how dogs see the world.
2nd poem
The poem continue from the first, after the girl got the courage to follow the scent it lead her to a new city. Even though, she is not sure whether this is the right choice she decided to explore the foreign city.
This is actually representing how I felt when I first study design. Since I had come from a science background a lot of things that I learned now felt very new to me, so it just felt like a whole new world to me. Although, I am new to this subject it did not stop me from continue learning and explore new things.
( The illustration is actually very plant based now since my name is a floral based name and it is actually to symbolize how in the 1st illustration is building so is rigid like the subject science, and now the illustrations are mostly organic shapes to symbolize how design is very flexible)
The manifesto for this is exploration. The artwork I choose is my animation because I explore different ways and method to tell my mom's story.

By the end of the week, I actually managed to finish one page.
I created my own template, since I cant find my online. I arranged it accordingly so that the printing would be accurate.
