This week, I took my old sketches and illustration to create the packaging I wanted for my character. I could only do this on this week because I have just finished designing all my character so I could measure the the size and create the packaging.
I start with measuring the length, height and width of the character. After that, I draw the template of my box out in a peice of paper and writing the exact measurement I wanted for the boxes. This step is really important since if its wrong it could be too big or too small for the character.

The second thing, I did is to rearrange all of my sketches and illustration around the boxes. I try to make each boxes brings out the feel and looks of each location. I also try to arrange the information of the place to suit the illustration so it does'nt look out of place. This took me about a day to complete all the 4 boxes. Since, I am not confident to print it all out I did a test print on one of the packaging to see what quality paper I wanted for my packaging.

I go to Lap Soon printing shop to look at which paper is more suitable. In the end, I choose to just print on art card 260gm. I choose this paper because it is the highest weightage paper at there, and since is a box I think thicker paper are much more suitable. Besides, I kinda like the shiny gloss it go on the packaging.
For the other packaging, I test printed it on normal paper just to check if the size is correct before proceeding on printing the real thing.

In the end, I really like how the packaging turn out it looks really lively and colourful, and I think it could reflect the location I have choosen for my research really well. From this assignment, I learned that packaging design is not just about the exterior but the packaging need to also relate to the product to make it a whole!!
