This week, we learned about InDesign. InDesign is a software similar to both adobe illustrator and photoshop, but it is more suitable for publishing. InDesign is suitable for publishing books or magazine because it could handle up to 100pages, unlike illustrator.

After learning a little about InDesign, we put our hands on to try out and learn about the software.

Firsly, we learned that, InDesign have the feature to set up columns. The column is a good way to have a guide while doing a layout design. Besides, while setting up the document it is recommended to change the unit milimeter (mm).

Secondly, we learned about the tools in the tool box. Each of the tool have different fuctions. Some of the tools such as pen tool are the same tools I have seen before in AI.

Some of the tool is really helpful, such as the gap tool which could adjust the gap.

Thirdly, we learned the tools available on the top panel, that could adjust the characters.

Before, the InDesign workshop we were briefly taught about Typography.

We learned that, typography is the appearnace of a text.

The category of fonts are:

Serif Fonts - font with serif (usually seen in magazine/ newspaper)

San Serif Font - font without serif (modern font/ usually appear on electronic devices)

Display Font - decorative font (advisable to use small amount while designing)

We also learn about designing terms such as:

Kerning - spaces between specific character (h...ello)

Leading - spaces between line (q)

b

Tracking - character spaciding (hello...friend)

Hierachy - guide to most important/ which to notice first
