Experimentation 🔬

In the process of finishing assignment 1, I have carry out many experimentation using different type of materials and techniques.

The first method that I try is using colorful lantern papers to create a character from my stories

The second method that I used is moving the object around the photo-copy machine to get cool looking graphic effects.

I uses a string and a round bottom bottle to create this design

I uses flashlight and a small cartoon photo card to create this design

C) Tree Monster story

I uses flashlight, leaf and the side of the book to create the design

The third method I uses is drawing and adding other objects on photos

A) Spaghetti Adventure story

I added lantern paper on top of the photo. I uses red and yellow lantern paper to create the spaghetti sauce and add the colorful meatball to represent that it is like a planet.

B) Magical Photograph story

I draw a photo frame and add colorful lantern paper on the photo to represent that the picture is magical.

C) Tree Monster story

From the photo of the tree roots I drew a tree monster

The fourth method that we used is tie dye. This method allow us to create cool pattern.

(During this activity, I have already chosen my story so I just focus on 1 story.)

A) Spaghetti Adventure

1. This is my first attempt for tie dye and the outcome is not really what I expect since I expect to it to cover fully.

2. During my second attempt I try using coffee as the dye. I put in round shape and crystal shape object and tie it tightly. The coffee stain is lighter than I expected.....

3. During my third attempt, I tried tying the cloth to look like the ribbon pasta, since my story is related to spaghetti. To be honest, I feel like this is the only tie dye that looks decent. 😂😂

4. In my last attempt, I try to twist the cloth to look like a rope, since ropes are also included in my story.

The fifth method is sewing. I actually have no experience is sewing so all my sewing does not actually have a design, but I did try to relate my sewing to my story.

1st try, just trying to sew straight lines and curve lines to get me warm up for the sewing.

2nd try, journey of my story. The lines are circulating the brown patches on the cloth. The patches represent the planets while the lines represent the journey.

3rd try, the yellow lines is actually spaghetti noodles and the color part of the cloth represent your imagination as in the spaghetti line is actually a journey to reach the meatball rather than just plain spaghetti noodle.

4th try, i make a baby bib. Since my story include a children eating I tried to make a bib. (The heart is actually hand sewn because I still cannot control the machine properly 😂😂)

5th try, I try to made a spaghetti orbit since my story include planets. The meatball is actually placed to look like a bear shape.

All in all, I have so much fun learning and doing things I have never done before. ❤️❤️❤️
