This week co-exist, we were asked to watch a film called "Design Disruptors by InVision. The film showcases top designers from the world's smartest companies such as Google, Pinterest and many more. In the film, designers of these companies share their opinion and view on what had design had become in the 21st century.
A few key points which I found useful for me is:
"Most users of your product are nothing like you. Be humble, curious and don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone to talk to them."
This sentence remind me that as a designer, we need to always remember that we are not designing something for ourselves, so we need to always the people needs into consideration cause design is to solved everyday problems people are facing.
"Time pressure is essential in the design process. Inviting people to the office to test design can create sense of urgency. It forces designers to focus on the crucial things and avoid sweating the details too early in the process."
From this I learned something called the "design sprint", I found this method useful because I could maybe apply it to my works. There is 5 steps in design sprint and it last up to 5 days. To summarized the process, it starts with understanding the problem. Second, find a solution for problems you wanna tackle. Third, make decisions on your idea and turn it into a tangible thing you can test. Fourth, create a realistic prototype. Lastly, try it out on real life user and get feedback. (Lo, 2018)

"It’s important to get as many ideas as you can, even the silly ones, because something great can come out of it or it may inspire someone else."
I may find this useful for me because I usually stop brainstorming for ideas once I have one that I wanted to do. This sentence make me realized that we should come out as many ideas as possible, so we could have more options. Do not settle with one idea, try to go out of your comfort zone and think of more ideas.
A few aspect that have the potential to help me in the course is:
"People get used to stuff. We put up with crappy ways of doing things because we usually don’t see ways how we could improve them. It takes special set of skills to spot the opportunities and make use of them to shake things up."
I find this useful for my advertising course because, in one of the lecture I remember something similar to this. However, it is talking about as designer we need to be the first one to realize the insight, which mean what the others haven't realize yet for the advertisement to be impactful" I find this helpful because it taught me to observe my surrounding because ideas are everywhere waiting for us to realize it.
"Design is about every touch point a customer has with your service. Airbnb hired Pixar artist which helped them visualize the whole user journey."
I find this useful for my T&T course because in our project we are expected to came up with an infographic, which from my opinion is very similar to the statement of "visualizing". For them is to visualize the user journey, but for us we were to visualize the data we collected from our research into things that we can easily digest and understand.
