This week, we learned about The Industrial Revolution. This topic is presented by our fellow classmates which is in Group 1, from what we learned the industrial revolution started from the 1800s to 1850s. It is started in Great Britain and it is usually known as rise of modernism.
During the industrial revolution there are 2 main things that happen. First, machines stared replacing humans. Second, more people from the outskirt moved to the city.
There are a few factors that contribute in making the first industrial revolution:-
- High population
- Natural resources such as river, coal, iron and etc...
- Growth of cities
- No war
- Development of banking system
- Good location
A few of the famous technology during the IR 1.0 is:-
1. The Bassemer (machines that change iron to steel)
2. Steam Engine (use to run huge machines)
3. Cotton Gin (seperate cottons from its seeds)
4. Spinning Jenny (produce cloths)
It is say that the Industrial Revolution is later spread towards other countries such as Belgium, France, America, India, Japan, Russia, China and Africa.
Going through all this changes, it affect a lot of Industry including the design industry. The growth of machinery cause a lot of the artwork to be mass produced. Besides, photograph is invented. The design industry is used more widely to provide development of product.
Machines such as cylinder press (1814) cost the price of books and newspapers to drop.
The invention of photograph, also help to develop different photography methods such as chromolitography (colour prints) and litography (print using stones).
During the presentation, they also explained about The Art and Crafts movement which come after the first inudstrial revolution. The whole movement is basically a group of artist which is not satisfied with the use of machinery because it declined the quality of work. The art style is more towards nature and have earthly colours.
From what I learned in class, the industrial revolution is a continuous process. We always continue to improve our living standards by inventing new inventions that could help us in our life. Curreently we are in the industrial revolution 4 aka IR 4.0.
To have a better understanding, each groups have to make a concept map about each industry revolution. My group choose to do the IR 4.0. Here is a look at the mindmaps.
For the tutuorial, I have shown some of my sketches for my animation. I have also discuss some of my idea I have for my animation. I have been asked to think about the camera movement for my animation.
