This week is our trip to Antalis, which is a paper supplier. We are here to learn more about papers. First, she told us that the manufacturing of paper takes a long time, it has to go through several process for it to become a paper. For better understanding, she showed us a 15mins video about the process of making paper. After that, she moved on to the varieties of paper choices that they provide to the consumers. She told us that, choosing the right paper is very important because the right paper will give out the right effect for your design. She also recommends what type of thickness is suitable for different areas. For example, the recommended thickness for business card is 300gm to 320gm.
Some of the advice given to us is that. In the future if you want to design something make sure you know what type of paper you are going to use according to the budget, because paper could get really expensive. She told us that the 70% of the cost in design is for papers, the other 30% is printings fees and etc… Besides, choosing the right paper should not be done last minute because imported papers will take up to almost 2 months for completion.
I believed that the trip to Antalis is very benefitial to us because we got a better understanding on papers. Besides, we could use our knowledge in the future while designing.
