This week, we have our animation workshop!! This is our first time using the adobe animate application, so we are quite confused at where all the buttons and tools since it is a little bit different from the other adobe softwares. Nevertheless, we are able to keep up with the workshop.

the timeline.

We start off with doing a simple animation of a bouncing ball. From our previous class (claymation), we learned about the few prinicple of animation such as squash and strech. The same principle could also be used for our animation. In today's class, we learned a few method of animation. The first is pose to pose which means that different frames is set p first and then later on in between frames are added to make the animation smoother. The second is straight ahead, which means the animation is drawn frame by frame, this method is usually used for not still objects such as fire.

I also tried to do the falling leaves animation. The falling leaves animation required us to first draw a path so that we know how the leaves will fall or the flow of the leaf. After that we have to mark different section of the path to determined where our frames would be. The frames determined the flow of the animation. For example the more frames the animation have the slower the movement. The less frames an animation had the faster the movement. Besides, to make the animation realistic we have to observed how a real leaf falls.

We were also taught on how to create symbols and many more. Knowing how to make symbols is much more convenient for our animation in the future since we are not required to draw frame by frame, so I would definitely keep that in mind!!

This workshop is helpful for us to create our animation, but there are still many things for us to learn so I hope that we could mater the basic for animation in time for our video submission!

Just playing around and getting to know the software better!!!

For tutorial I dont have much progress, so I just shown what I have change from my previous storyboard and what I have added in the storyboard. I have also been brief on the concept map for our Bread Project next semester, although I still do not have a direction on the project since I would like to focus on my animation first.

The Proposal

The concept I am going for my animation is about finding joy in little things in life such as bread. Bread is usually view as a food, but a simple food like bread could evoke emotions. The idea started out with how bread have an impact on different people life, so I started to ask around to get different stories related to bread and realised how their stories brings happy memories.

The animation is a story told by my mom about her experience with the roti man when she was young. She told me the story of how she buys bread from the roti man without getting out of the house and how she always feels the excitement and joy of just hearing the roti man bell sound. Moreover, I have an idea to combined the idea of joy from mine and my mom perspective for this animation.

Some of the visual reference I have taken for my animation is from Ted-ed videos. I really like the way they illustrate the story to make it interesting. However, for the art style I have took references from different webcomics I have read. Lastly, the 8-bit style animation are inspired by the movie Wreck-it-ralph.

I tried to draw the animation in 8-bit style but I cant, so I just draw normally and wrote 8 bit style on the top hehe.
