This week co-exist, we are gonna watch a video about the designer Olafur Eliasson. In the short documentary we can see him explaining about few of his design or artwork. From this, I see that he likes to play around with colours. One of the artwork that interest me is the yellow room. It is a room that is monochrome and other colours could not be seen just yellow, black and white. He explained that this occurs because there is no white light to bounce the colour into our eyes. I personally think this is brilliant!! He also explained that when all colours are drained people tend to be more focused on their surroundings.
One of the most useful things he talked about is that the audience or viewer is actually a big part of your artwork, which is technically true because without the viewer the artwork could not be seen thus the story or message could not be told.
Thus, he also likes to play around with mirrors. I personally thinks this is really cool becuase you can play with the perspective and create different effects with mirror. The mirror could give the audience a different perspective that could kinda defy the reality.
One of the things I admire about this designer is that most of his artwork are done in such a large scale. For example, the waterfall and the iceberg. Another thing I have observed is that his idea always start with nature, and slowly through the design process it turns and create an artowork with a powerful message.
